Most people do not realize how much their breathing patterns are shaped by stress, posture, and emotional habits.
This workshop draws on the yogic principle of svadhyaya, or self-study, to explore the relationship between breath, body, and emotion. Through a blend of lecture and guided, experiential practice, you will begin to understand how anatomical structure and emotional states influence the way you breathe and how your nervous system responds.
You will learn the basic anatomy and mechanics of breathing, explore foundational nervous system function, and be introduced to the vibrational scale of emotion, all through an accessible and embodied approach.
From a myofascial perspective, we will examine how tension and postural patterns in the rib cage, diaphragm, and spine can restrict or support the breath. Through pranayama, gentle movement, and deep stretching, you will not only understand these concepts but feel the shift in your own body.
This is a blended lecture and practice designed to help you connect the dots between breath, emotion, posture, and physiology, both on and off the mat.
